Overheating MEGA 2560 Pro Mini

Anyone experiencing the MEGA 2560 Pro Mini overheating? This is a 2560 problem (not the GMA1347 PCBs) as it overheats even when not connected to the GMA1347 PCBs. Specifically the 5v power supply on the 2560 is overheating (too hot to touch), then the 2560 shuts down in less than a minute and loses USB connectivity.

...to close this out, turned out to be two bad USB cables. A thrid USB cable is working fine.

Yes this is the exact issue I am having as discussed at that link. Bought a new 2560 with same issue also. It is odd that so many of 2560s are having this problem. Thank you though!

That seems unusual to get 2 bad ones. I wonder if it could be something else…? I wish I could be more helpful. I’m still pretty new to the electronics stuff. The pcbs I’ve been doing so far are very basic. Just pin to pin routing stuff.

Sounds like in their case it was a regulator on the arduino that was bad???
